Valentine's Cards for the Classroom

It is WAY too early to be bringing up Valentine's Day, I KNOW, but I also know if you want options on the internet for fun cards with a little activity you have to order them before they sell out :)
I want to first preface, you don't even need to give out Valentine's Day cards of any sort and you DEFINITELY don't need to include some elaborate "goody" inside them. I just happen to find this stuff fun, and I also try to be weary of giving people things that they might just throw away, because it just feels wasteful! But truly, any type of giving is thoughtful and I certainly appreciate thoughtfulness of any variety :)
In the past I found myself wanting to give each kid in my son's class something 1)fun, 2)developmentally appropriate/maybe even skill building, 3)not food, 4)not "junk", and 5) not very expensive. Hahahahahahahahaha. I mean, do I put a lot of pressure on myself? yes. But do I enjoy it? Most of the time, yes.
Because of the pandemic, we really have only handed out valentine's day cards once and it was a lot. I got a bunch of mini canvas bags from the dollar store, and a bulk bag of red and pink acrylic hearts. I drew a tic tac toe board on each bag, and then had my then 3 year old help me count 4 reds and 4 pinks for each bag ( he helped with maybe 2 or 3 bags because he was only 3;)) It worked out to be about $1 per valentine, and some time. Which I think was excessive, but I also was out of options and apparently committed to this idea. Having the children help with these cute ideas for their classmates really helps to build pride and generosity with their giving! This year I'll have my 5 year old write the names of his classmates, since that's within his abilities. I'll have my 3.5 year old help me attach the cards to her little craft she'll be giving.
This year we have two kiddos and so I still had the same motivation to give a fun valentine for each kid within the same criteria. Starting early this year led me to find these adorable craft kit valentines on amazon! They must move quickly because I've never seen them before. I usually procrastinate though.
We got the gem craft valentine card set as well as the painting valentine card set. Each set has 24-26 cards respectively, and each are under $15 for the whole set. Score! I would have loved the perler bead cards because I get nerdy and think of all the fine motor skills being built, but my kids wouldn't be as pumped about those because we haven't done them at home yet. Let me know what you think about Valentine's Day Cards, is this just a crazy thing I am going too hard on?! ;)
